The Ministry of Justice condemns the attack on a judge of the High Court in Leskovac and appeals to the competent government authorities to urgently clarify the circumstances of the incident so that the perpetrator can be held accountable in accordance with the law.
The independence and the impartiality of judges are the highest principles of the rule of law which no person has the right to violate, especially in a manner which would endanger the lives of those holding judicial functions.
The Ministry of Justice notes that only an independent work of judges ensures a coherent application of laws in Serbia and an equal access to justice.
